ENG EST

Egs (b 1974) is a Finnish graffiti artist, who lives and works in Helsinki. He has a degree in graphic design from University of Arts London. Besides grafiti he has done hand blown glass sculptures as well. His artworks can be found both on outdoor and indoor walls. Current artworks are part of the series called “Sovietskaya Egstonia”. The artist found them in an abandoned factory In Tartu, where he was making an artwork in 2012 and he had this idea to paint on the front pages. The titles of the artworks come from the dates when the newspapers were published.
Egs (s 1974) on Soome grafitikunstnik, kes elab ja töötab Helsingis. Tal on lõpetanud graafilise disaini eriala Londoni ülikoolis University of Arts. Lisaks grafitile on ta teinud käsitsi klaasist puhutud skulptuure. Tema teoseid on võimalik leida nii välitingimustes kui ka siseruumide seintel. Käesolevad teosed on osa seeriast “Sovietskaya Egstonia”. Kunstnik leidis need mahajäetud tehasest, kus ta 2012. aastal teost lõi ning tal tuli mõte maalida ajalehtede esikaantele. Teoste nimed tulenevad kuupäevadest, mil ajalehed välja anti.
