Dance of the Puppeteers explores the hidden power that today’s tech moguls wield over politics and culture. These figures are portrayed as sorrowful ballerinas, dramatic divas wearing elaborate tutus and ball gowns, posed within the decaying elegance of abandoned estates. This setting symbolizes their isolation from ordinary life. While they influence and shape the lives of the masses, their expressions reveal the loneliness that often accompanies power. This work critiques both those who hold influence and those affected by it. These tech moguls revel in their control, yet their power isolates them, creating a barrier between themselves and the world they shape. Meanwhile, the public mirrors their desires, consuming endless social media, pursuing goods we neither need nor can afford, and seeking connection in artificial ways. We become reflections of their egos, caught in a cycle of consumption that deepens our own emptiness, just as they fill their lives with influence. The piece also examines the toxic relationship between these tech figures and the public. They control the information that reaches us, streaming images and ideas that shape our beliefs and choices. We, in turn, become their puppets, addicted to the media they provide, which molds how we think and feel. The contrast between the figures’ graceful poses and their grim isolation challenges viewers to rethink our relationship with power, fame, and consumption. These moguls, who seek control, are also trapped by the hollow systems they have created.
Sari “Dance of the Puppeteers” uurib varjatud jõudu, mida tänapäeva tehnikamogulid kasutavad poliitika ja kultuuri üle.
