Superman

Andy Warhol

1981

ENG EST

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) could easily be a synonym for pop art. Andy Warhol kept his finger at society's pulse and he chose to depict the most banal and recognizable everyday objects. Of course he used celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, but Brillo soap pads and Campbell soup cans are something from American households. Superman is a movie and comics character, who was created already in 1933 by a writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster. Warhols “Superman” (1981) is part of the Myths portfolio and the artist was both in awe and critical of superheroes.
