Still Life With Details From a Murakami
Francesca Kirke (b 1953) is a Latvian artist, who was born into the family of artists. In 1978 she graduated from the department of painting at the Art Academy of Latvia. She has shown her art in exhibitions since 1974. Current artwork is a diptych and it brings together three different worlds, firstly baroque looking flower painting – a traditional still life, secondly a clear reference to Takashi Murakami’s work – smiling flower characters and thirdly an abstract take of the two. In the PoCo lobby one can see two more artworks by Kirke, both her interpretations of the fashion magazine covers. First one joining Elle magazine and Caravaggio’s baroque painting “Judith Beheading Holofernes” (c 1599) and the second one joining Vogue magazine and the first man walking on the Moon in 1969.
Francesca Kirke (s 1953) on Läti kunstnik, kes sündis kunstnike perre. 1978. aastal lõpetas ta Läti Kunstiakadeemia maaliosakonna. Kirke on oma töödega näitustel osalenud alates 1974. aastast. Käesolev kunstiteos on diptühhon ehk kaheosaline maal ning see toob kokku kolm erinevat maailma, esiteks barokne lillemaal – traditsiooniline natüürmort, teiseks selge viide Takashi Murakami loomingule – naeratavatele lilletegelastele ja kolmandaks abstraktne käsitlus eelnevast kahest. PoCo muuseumi fuajees on võimalik näha veel kahte Kirke teost, mõlemad on tema interpretatsioonid moeajakirjade kaantest. Esimene toob kokku ajakirja Elle ja Caravaggio barokkmaali “Juudit Olovernese pead maha raiumas” (u 1599) ja teisel ühendatakse ajakiri Vogue ja esimene inimene, kes 1969. aastal Kuu pinnale astus.
