Marcel Duchamp (1887-1968) was a French artist, who is the father of readymade. Namely, he started using existing objects in his art, which he combined unusually and presented them as his artworks. In 1935 Duchamp created a series of 6 two sided turning discs – rotoreliefs. The name comes from words rotate, which the discs do and relief, which signifies sculpture type, where parts of the artwork are sunken or higher. In current artwork, the illusion of three dimensionality was gained via rotating the discs. Duchamp and his friend Man Ray filmed the rotating discs for a short film Anémic Cinéma.
Marcel Duchamp (1887-1968) oli Prantsuse kunstnik, keda võib pidada readymade’i isaks. Nimelt hakkas kunstnik oma loomingus kasutama valmis objekte, mida ta ebatavaliselt kombineeris ning kunstiteostena esitles. 1935. aastal lõi ta seeria kuuest kahepoolsest pöörlevast kettast – rotoreljeefist. Nimi tuleneb sõnadest roteeruma ning reljeef, mis tähistab skulptuuri alaliiki, kus osa teosest on süvistatud või eendub. Antud juhul saavutati ruumilisuse illusioon aga ketaste pöörlemise teel. Duchamp ja tema sõber ning kolleeg Man Ray filmisid pöörlevaid kettaid lühifilmi Anémic Cinéma jaoks.
