I was a Rich Man’s Plaything

ENG EST

Eduardo Paolozzi (1924-2005) was a son of Italian immigrants, who was born in Scotland. His collage “I was a Rich Man's Plaything” is one of the first pop art pieces that contains the word pop and it is part of the series BUNK, which contains 10 collages and which was created in 1947 - 1952. The collage is a witness to artists fascination with American culture and consumerism society. The piece was made using magazines, which were given to Paolozzi by American ex-servicemen.
Eduardo Paolozzi (1924-2005) oli Itaalia immigrantide poeg, kes sündis Šotimaal. Tema teos “I was a Rich Man's Plaything” on üks esimesi popkunsti teoseid, kus esineb sõna pop ja see on osa seeriast “BUNK”, kus on 10 kollaaži ja mille ta lõi aastatel 1947- 1952. Kollaaž on tunnistajaks sellele, et kunstnikku vaimustab Ameerika kultuur ja tarbimisühiskond. Antud teos on tehtud kasutades väljalõikeid ajakirjadest, mille Paolozzi sai endiste Ameerika sõdurite käest.
