Andy Mouse

1986

Keith Haring (1958-1990) was an American artist, who created recognizable style and characters who continue to live on. Like many children, Keith Haring developed a love for drawing at an early age. He took inspiration from Walt Disney and Dr. Seuss characters. He had his first solo show in 1978 in Pittsburgh. When he moved to New York later that year, he discovered a vibrant art scene outside of the gallery and museum system. The artist became aware of street art and he decided to dedicate his life to truly public art. Between 1980-1985 he painted hundreds of subway murals in New York with white chalk on unused advertising panels covered with matte black paper. “Andy Mouse” (1986) is an artwork, where the focus is on Andy Warhol and his love of money. It is no secret that Warhol, who had a background in advertising, wanted to create art and turn his art into a successful business.
