ENG EST

Kiwa (b 1975) is an Estonian artist, writer, composer and curator. He has been expressing himself from video to performance art. Kiwa has been creating so called girl-art since the late 1990s, firstly it was paintings of adolescent girls in provocative poses. The way he depicts young girls is nostalgic in a sense and carries so called lost paradise feel to it. Yet the artist has a goal to expand what art can be and legitimize art that stays out from the norm. In 2022 he was given a writer of the year title for his experimental novel “Kummiliimiallikad” at Estonian Writer festival.
Kiwa (s 1975) on Eesti kunstnik, kirjanik, helilooja ja kuraator. Ta on ennast loominguliselt väljendanud alates videokunstist lõpetades performance kunstiga. Kiwa alustas nö girl-arti'ga hilistel 1990. aastatel ning maalis varaküpseid provokatiivsetes poosides tütarlapsi. Viis, kuidas ta noori neiusid kujutab viitab ühelt poolt nostalgiale ning nö kaotatud paradiisile, samas soovib kunstnik kunsti piire nihutada ja normidest välja jäävat kunsti legitiimseks muuta. 2022. aastal pärjati KIWA festivalil Eesti Kirjanik eksperimentaalse romaani "Kummiliimiallikad" eest aasta kirjaniku tiitliga.
