Kunstnik

Leonhard Lapin (1947-2022) was an Estonian artist, architect and poet. His artwork “Jänku suudlus” is one of the most iconic pieces in Estonian pop art. It is based on a German Easter postcard and one can see a human-rabbit kissing a young girl. On one hand, these kinds of metamorphoses are familiar from antique mythology, for example the main god Zeus turned himself into a white bull to trick high class maiden Europe. On the other hand, the surname Lapin means rabbit in French, so one can imagine the artist himself kissing the young girl.

Leonhard Lapin (1947-2022) oli Eesti kunstnik, arhitekt ja luuletaja. Tema teos “Jänku suudlus” on üks ikoonilisemaid Eesti popkunsti teoseid. See põhineb ühel saksa ülestõusmispühade postkaardil ning teosel on näha, kuidas inimene-jänes suudleb noort tütarlast. Ühelt poolt on säärased metamorfoosid tuttavad juba antiikmütoloogiast, näiteks peajumal Zeus muudab end valgeks pulliks, et kõrgklassi neiu Europe kavalusega röövida. Teisalt tähendab Lapini perekonnanimi prantsuse keeles jänest, seega võib teosel hoopis vaimusilmas hoopis kunstnikku ennast noort tütarlast suudlemas näha.
