DeStudio is an artist group that includes two Estonian artists and photographers: Herkki Erich Merila (b 1964) and Peeter Laurits (b 1962). The group was active between 1992 and 2008, and they created these works especially for the PoCo museum. The depicted woman is the Estonian actress and film director Maria Avdjuško (b 1968). The artists have returned to their previous work, and this is a remake of a 1993 artwork. DeStudio's creations of the 1990s are a good example of the fact that the explosion that took place in the Western art world in the 1960s only reached Estonia in the 1990s due to the re-independence of the Republic of Estonia in 1991. DeStudio's work undoubtedly represents Estonian art and pop culture of the 1990s, which tried to make up for lost time.
DeStudio on kunstnikerühmitus, kuhu kuuluvad kaks Eesti kunstnikku ja fotograafi: Herkki Erich Merila (s 1964) ja Peeter Laurits (s 1962). Rühmitus tegutses aktiivselt aastatel 1992-2008 ning käesolevad teosed lõid nad spetsiaalselt PoCo muuseumisse. Kujutatud naine on Eesti näitleja ja filmirežissöör Maria Avdjuško (s 1968). Kunstnikud on enda varasema loomingu poole tagasi pöördunud ning tegemist on kunstiteose töötlusega 1993. aastast. DeStudio 1990. aastate looming on hea näide sellest, et plahvatus, mis toimus lääne kunstimaailmas 1960. aastatel, jõudis Eestisse alles 1990. aastatel tulenevalt Eesti Vabariigi taasiseseisvumisest 1991. aastal. DeStudio looming esindab kahtlemata Eesti 1990. aastate kunsti ja popkultuuri, mis üritas kaotatud aega tasa teha.
