Damien Hirst
Damien Hirst (b 1965) is a controversial British artist. Withering, decay and death are one of the central themes of his work. Painful and vital themes demonstrate the ability of contemporary art to offer powerful emotions and raise eternal questions: “What does it mean to be alive?”, “How to face death?”. In 2007, Hirst created the work For The Love Of God, it is a human skull cast in platinum and covered with diamonds. It raises questions as to whether this work was sold for £50 million or is still in the vault. With its bright colors, this work is packaging death into one theme of life and Pop and contemporary art.
