We will dive into an era where, despite the fact that there were few female artists, women are found in many works of art. We will explore how women were depicted, who they were and what roles or perceptions they embodied. We will look at who the collective image of a woman depicted by Warhol or Lichtenstein was and how it differs from the works of contemporary artists. The guided tour will look at both female artists who received less attention during the heyday of pop art, such as Yayoi Kusama and Barbara Kruger, as well as artists who use pop techniques in modern times, such as Bambi, Noisy, Mall Nukke and others.

The themed tour provides an overview of the works of Estonian artists in the PoCo Museum. We will explore the history of the development of Estonian pop art in the 20th century and how it differed from or resembled pop art in other parts of the world. The current century is represented by works by Estonian artists in the fields of street art and artificial intelligence. The guided tour will examine the work of Mall Nukke, Marko Mäetamme, DeStudio, Edward von Lõngus and others.

The tour focuses on the king of pop art and his work at PoCo. In the 1960s, Warhol shone as a bright star, creating iconic works of Marilyn Monroe, Campbell’s soup cans and flowers. Warhol shook up the art world of the 20th century and his experimentalism prophetically foresaw the future. The guided tour will examine Warhol’s practice of appropriation, passion for collecting, repetition, themes of death and the manifestation of religiosity in his works.
