GUIDED tours

The PoCo guided tour focuses on Pop art and David Bowie, exploring two exhibitions: the permanent collection of the PoCo and a photography exhibition by Masayoshi Sukita featuring David Bowie. The revamped permanent exhibition at the PoCo invites visitors to explore a dialogue between Estonian and international artists, covering themes such as Pop art rooted in comics, consumerism and consumer society, the global heritage of digital art, works reflecting political themes, and currents within street art. Bowie x Sukita is a visual journey comprising over a hundred photographs that chronicle the pair’s creative partnership, which spanned four decades.

We will dive into an era where, despite the fact that there were few female artists, women are found in many works of art. We will explore how women were depicted, who they were and what roles or perceptions they embodied. We will look at who the collective image of a woman depicted by Warhol or Lichtenstein was and how it differs from the works of contemporary artists. The guided tour will look at both female artists who received less attention during the heyday of pop art, such as Yayoi Kusama and Barbara Kruger, as well as artists who use pop techniques in modern times, such as Death NYC, Noisy, Mall Nukke and others.

The themed tour provides an overview of the works of Estonian artists in the PoCo Museum. We will explore the history of the development of Estonian pop art in the 20th century and how it differed from or resembled pop art in other parts of the world. The current century is represented by works by Estonian artists in the fields of street art and artificial intelligence. The guided tour will examine the work of Mall Nukke, Marko Mäetamme, DeStudio, Edward von Lõngus and others.

The tour focuses on the king of pop art and his work at PoCo. In the 1960s, Warhol shone as a bright star, creating iconic works of Marilyn Monroe, Campbell’s soup cans and flowers. Warhol shook up the art world of the 20th century and his experimentalism prophetically foresaw the future. The guided tour will examine Warhol’s practice of appropriation, passion for collecting, repetition, themes of death and the manifestation of religiosity in his works.

We welcome you to celebrate colours, a birthday, a girls’ night out or a team event.
Colours are the frame of Go Colours, playfulness is the paintbrush and activities are the paper. Through the museum, we serve colours for different senses and create an atmosphere to share colourful thoughts. We explore the colour wheel and the hiding of colours with light. We’ll also pay attention to the colours of the consumer society and try to rename the different shades of colours. The icing on the rainbow cake will be painting with edible colours.
