Handle with Care

Lilian Maasik's large-scale vase Handle with Care was created as part of a collaboration between the Ceramics Department of the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) and the PoCo Pop and Contemporary Art Museum. The students were tasked with designing a signature piece for the museum—an object that would greet and bid farewell to visitors adorned with a fresh Fleur Royale floral arrangement. The works of ten young ceramic artists were presented at the exhibition PoCoEKApop, held at the Solaris Shopping Centre.
The vase is made of porcelain pressed into a plaster mold taken from the surface of bubble wrap. It was assembled by hand and fired at a high temperature. If dropped, it will shatter.
Lilian Maasiku suurvorm-vaas “Handle with Care” valmis EKA keraamikaosakonna ja popkunstimuuseumi PoCo koostöö raames. Tudengite lähteülesandeks oli luua muuseumi visiitkaart, mis värske Fleur Royale lilleseadega külastajaid tervitab ja ära saadab. Kümne noore keraamiku teoseid esitleti Solarise kaubanduskeskuses toimunud näitusel "PoCoEKApop".
Vaasi materjaliks on portselan, mis on pressitud mullikile pinnalt võetud kipsjäljendile. See on käsitsi ühendatud ja kõrgel temperatuuril põletatud. Maha kukkumisel puruneb.
