Mall Nukke (b 1964) is an Estonian artist. Religion has repeatedly figured in her work, in the exhibitions Icons in 2004 and New Icons in 2023. The artworks are based on the structure of icons, the form leads to the past, but the themes are strongly in the present. According to the artist, she has created iconographic cartoons, as if the journalism of a bygone period. Nukke’s collage technique and thereby melting the layers is subtle and requires paying attention to notice the shift.
