Pantone Green Christmas Tree
Nick Smith
Nick Smith (b 1984) is a British artist, who uses paint swatches to create his artworks. At first glance his artworks might seem abstract, but at a closer look, it seems figurative. Namely the artist creates his own versions from the masterpieces as a homage. His background is in interior design. In 2011 he made his first artworks using colour swatches, the artwork was Andy Warhol’s “Marilyn”. It was a beginning for his distinctive style and a push for his career. He has also created his colour swatch interpretations of the following artworks: Leonardo da Vinci “Mona Lisa”, Johannes Vermeer “Girl with a Pearl Earring”, Vincent van Gogh “Self- portrait”, Grant Wood “American Gothic”. Current artwork “Pantone Green Christmas Tree” uses big colour swatches plus poignant comments that are all part of that magical time of the year in England. Regardless of the country, most people can relate to more socks and loose belts.
Nick Smith (s 1984) on Briti kunstnik, kelle loomingule on iseloomulik värvikaartide abil kunstiteoste loomine. Tema looming võib esmapilgul välja näha abstraktne, kuid lähemal vaatlusel näib see figuratiivsena. Nimelt loob kunstnik kuulsatest kunstiteostest austusavaldusena oma versioone. Kunstniku taust on sisekujunduses.
