Cow wallpaper

Andy Warhol

1966

ENG EST

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) the father of Pop art created eight wallpapers during his career. If one considers his studio The Factory walls covered with aluminum foil, then even nine wallpapers can be discussed. In 1966 Warhol specifically created the cow head psychedelic wallpaper for his Leo Castelli gallery exhibition. When Warhol first used the wallpaper it was to create the exhibition space, in the future exhibitions in 1971, 1976 and 1979 he also placed artworks on the walls covered with the wallpaper. Through the years the artist created variations besides the yellow and pink cow wallpaper. Other wallpapers depicted stamps, Mao Zedong, Warhols self-portrait and fish. Warhol was truly an interdisciplinary artist using different mediums to express his visions.
