Banksy's work Gimp Masked Woman was exhibited at his Los Angeles exhibition Barely legal in 2006. The exhibition was organized secretly and the venue was only revealed on the day of the event. The exclusive exhibition was open for only 3 days. A live elephant was also part of the installation, painted in such a way that it blended into the pattern of the wallpaper. The elephant in the room that no one is talking about drew attention to worsening problems such as access to clean drinking water or the number of people living below the poverty line. In this piece, Banksy has vandalized a painting from the Rococo period, but the woman wears a specific gimp mask, typical of a bondage suit. The world is full of things that are not talked about in public.
Banksy teos “Gimp Masked Woman” oli väljas tema 2006. aasta Los Angelese näitusel “Barely legal”. Näitust korraldati salaja ning toimumiskoht avalikustati alles toimumispäeval. Eksklusiivne näitus oli lahti vaid 3 päeva. Installatsiooni osa oli ka elus elevant, kes oli maalitud viisil, et ta sulanduks tapeedi mustriga. Elevant toas, millest keegi ei räägi juhtis tähelepanu süvenevatele probleemidele nagu näiteks ligipääs puhtale joogiveele või vaesuspiirist allpool elavate inimeste arv. Antud teosel on Banksy vandaliseerinud justkui rokokoo aegset maali, kuid naine kannab spetsiifilist nn gimp maski, mis on omane bondage ülikonnale.
