Marilyn Balloon Murakami Blue
Brain Roy
Brain Roy (b 1980) is a former French graffiti writer. His work has been influenced by the Lyon street art of the 2000s. When he settled in Paris, he became the so-called king of the subway because his name appears on the strategically important lines 5, 10 and 13. Over the years, Brain Roy has also started to create on the canvases. His present creation wants to represent France’s multicultural identity, street culture, imagination and the world. In his artworks, Marilyn Monroe wears a Dior hoodie, and Mcdonalds fries come in packaging “designed by Roy Lichtenstein”. This work is a good example of a visual remix, where a third artist combines the signature motifs of two famous predecessors – Andy Warhol’s Marilyn and Takashi Murakami’s smiling flowers.
Brain Roy (s 1980) on endine Prantsuse grafitikirjutaja. Antud teos on hea näide visuaalsest remixist, kus kolmas kunstnik kombineerib kahe kuulsa eelkäija märgilisi motiive – Andy Warholi Marilyni ja Takashi Murakami naeratavaid lilli.
