Mr Brainwash

2010

ENG EST

Mr Brainwash (Thierry Guetta, b 1966) is a French-born street artist based in Los Angeles, known for combining the aesthetics of street art and Pop Art. The artwork places George Lucas´ Star Wars (1977) characters within a 19th-century family portrait composition, creating a collision between historical portraiture and contemporary popular culture. The result is a playful and ironic image that highlights how well-known cultural symbols can be repositioned and given new meaning in a different context.
