Mall Nukke (b 1964) is an Estonian artist who was a customer of Äripäev business newspaper for two months to create this artwork, in order to provide herself with pink pages. The Hollywood theme dates back to 1996, when the artist created a mural in a Tallinn nightclub called Hollywood, where Marilyn Monroe was next to Marlene Dietrich and Batman. According to the artist herself current artwork is more of a symbolic portrait, where precious and cheap, permanent and ephemeral, are side by side. In the case of famous people, the public does not really know who these people are. So stars are like modern fairy tale characters, and people want to believe this “truth”.
Mall Nukke (s 1964) on Eesti kunstnik, kes antud teose loomiseks oli kaks kuud Äripäeva tellija, et varustada ennast roosa ajalehepaberiga. Hollywoodi teema ulatub tagasi 1996. aastasse, mil kunstnik lõi ööklubisse Hollywood seinamaali, kus Marlene Dietrichi ja Batmaniga kõrvuti oli ka Marilyn Monroe. Kunstniku enda sõnul on “Staari portree VI” pigem sümboolne näopilt, kus kõrvuti on hinnaline ja odav, jääv ja kaduv. Kuulsate inimeste puhul ei ole avalikkusele tegelikult teada, kes või millised need inimesed on. Seega staarid on kui tänapäevased muinasjututegelased ning seda “tõde” soovitakse uskuda.
